Monthly council meetings are held in the Council Chambers of City Hall on the 1st Monday of every month, unless otherwise posted. All meetings are set by special notice of copy of which is hung at the front entrance of City Hall 24 hours before the meeting is set to take place. The notice clearly displays the agenda for the upcoming meeting.

The Boyden City Council is made up of five members elected at large for overlapping four year terms. The City Council has the duties and power to make policies, provide fiscal authority, authorize contracts, select employees and make improvements to the City of Boyden.

Water and sewer services are provided by the City of Boyden. All water and sewer usage is monitored by water meters. Residential, commercial and industrial customers are charged according to the usage determined by the meters. The meters are read on approximately the 28th day of each month.

The City of Boyden does have a Water Conservation/Restriction Ordinance in place.  To view a summary of the ordinance please click here.

The current monthly rates are as follows:

 

Water: Residential/Governmental Monthly minimum charge $13.00
  Per 1000 gal/used charge $3.50
Industrial & Commercial Monthly minimum charge $26.00
  Per 100 gal/used charge $3.50
Customers outside of city limits Monthly minimum charge $26.00
  Per 1000 gal/used charge $7.00
Sewer: Industrial Monthly minimum charge $15.00
  Per 1000gal/used charge $1.50
Commercial Monthly minimum charge $10.00

Governmental & Residential Monthly minimum charge $7.00

The City currently contracts with Hosper's Sanitation of Ashton for Garbage collection, disposal and recycling. Garbage collection day is Wednesday. The monthly fee for garbage collection is $9.50 and is included in your monthly city bill.  Recycling is picked up the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month.

Separation of recyclable material is the responsibility of the property owner. Recycling items include: glass, paper products, plastics and cans. Recycling guides are available at the Boyden City Office. Recycling containers can be purchased at the Boyden City Office for $18 each.

 

Monthly Billing Your bill will be issued on or before the 5th day of each month and is due the last business day of each month. Late payment penalties are1.5% of the total amount due.

*All returned checks are charged a $25 service fee.

 

Disconnected Service Service to any residence or place of business will be disconnected after the customer has been properly notified that they are delinquent. Delinquent notices will be issued and sent by ordinary first class mail and shall notify the customer of the amount due and the date the service will be discontinued. If no payment is received, a Disconnect notice will be sent by certified mail reaffirming the amount due and the disconnect date.  If still no payment is received, a disconnect notice will be posted at the premises 24 hours prior to disconnection of the utilities. A mandatory $25 re-connect fee applies to all disconnected accounts, plus payment in full before the service will be turned back on.

 

Water Deposit All rental locations are required to pay a $100 deposit before the water is turned on at the property.
