Winter Community Reminders • Snow Removal Reminders• State and City Code prohibit property owners from moving snow from private property or sidewalks onto the street. Doing so creates hazardous driving conditions upon the roadway. •Fire Hydrants. If you have a fire hydrant on your corner or near your property, the Fire Department is asking for your help. If possible, please take the time to scoop the snow away from the hydrant in case of an emergency. Doing so will save the department valuable time during an emergency situation. •Sidewalk Snow Removal. City Code states that it is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to maintain a safe and hazard-free condition of any sidewalk outside the lot and property lines and inside the curb lines or traveled portion of the public street. This includes where the sidewalk flows into the street at intersections. Maintaining safe paths to the churches and to the elementary school is important for everyone's safety. Please scoop the snow off your sidewalks so they are safe for pedestrian travel, especially for the children and the elderly within our community. •Snowmobiles• Please remember that snowmobiles are not allowed to drive on private property unless you have the permission from the property owner. Please remain on the public road right of way when riding in and out of the city limits. Snowmobiles are not allowed in the city parks, on playgrounds, sidewalks or on any municipally owned property. •ATV Permit Reminder• ATV's need permits to be driven on City streets in Boyden. Stop by the City Office for more information. • NOT a Street. The grassy area on the south side of the West Ball Diamond is NOT a street. Please do not drive across the ball diamond property. Violators will be turned into the Sheriff's Department for ticketing. |
