CITY WIDE CLEAN-UP DAY

WED., MAY 14, 2008

Pickup will start early on Wednesday morning - have your items placed curbside the night before.

Rules & Regulations:

All general clean up items must be placed curbside.  This includes furniture. 

 All large items should be cut down into 5 ½ foot lengths and be bundled in some manner.

 Iron/Scrap Metal:  Please have iron and scrap metal items on a separate pile for pickup. 

Appliances:    All appliances require a tag.  Tags can be purchased up at the City Office and are $15 eachThe tag must be placed on the appliance and the appliance must be curbside with the tag visible to the street.  Appliances accepted include: ►refrigerators ►stoves ►furnaces ►water heaters ►freezers ►dishwashers ►washing machines ►dryers ►dehumidifiers ►humidifiers ►microwaves ►water softeners

*Appliances without tags will not be removed from the curb.

 The following items will not be accepted:

►Tires ► Concrete   ► Batteries

American Legion Post 272 Memorial Day Services

Memorial Day is Monday, May 26, 2008.

Cemetery services are scheduled as follows:

8:30 a.m. Matlock Cemetery

9:00 a.m. St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery

9:30 a.m. Boyden-Sheridan Township Cemetery

*In case of inclement weather, one joint service will be held at

9:30 a.m. in the Demco Community Center in Boyden.

Summer Rec Swimming Lesson Transportation

This year the City of Boyden will be providing busing for the first session of swimming lessons in Hull: June 9th – 13th.

The bus will leave from the elementary school 15 minutes before the lesson starts and they will return approximately 15 minutes after their lesson is over.

SWIMMING BUS $1 per ticket!

◘  Every Wed. starting June 18 through August 13

◘  Bus leaves Elem. School at 1 p.m. & returns at 4 p.m.

◘  Bus will return to Boyden Elementary at 4:00 p.m.

◘  Ages eligible: 1st grade and up (adults welcome)

◘  Tickets available for purchase individually or multiples. The City Office will have tickets available for purchase.

◘  Not responsible for lost/stolen tickets and no refunds.

◘  Any abuse of this privilege will result in the removal of the child from the bus for the remainder of the summer.

Household Hazardous Material Disposal Options

The Northwest Iowa Area Solid Waste Agency, in cooperation with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has established a local permanent option for proper and safe disposal of household hazardous material (HHM) from residents and conditionally exempt small quantity generators within the Agency’s service area.

Free HHM Disposal for residents! (Unusable Latex Paint will be assessed $1 per gallon).

Hours:  Monday, Wednesday and Friday

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. BY APPOINTEMENT ONLY
